In a typical way. My oldest cousin said Bangoon (or something like that) instead of Grandma and it stuck. My grandmother used to say, "I'm the only Bangoon in captivity!" She had a great sense of humor.
Me too! A great role model to take of myself and not allow someone to control me. I’m glad you liked my story. Thankful to Annette for starting this project and encouraging me.
Thank you. Bangoon was how my oldest cousin said grandma and it stuck. When asked about it, Bangoon would say, “I’m the only Bangoon in captivity.” She had a great sense of humor.

She sounds a remarkable woman, I am so glad that she escaped her abusive husband and managed to have a good life.

What an amazing life, and you told it so well I felt like I met her just a bit.

Loved it, Roxanne. She had a great impact on your Mother and you, and made you both strong, loving women!
I love Bangoon! And I love your story, so well told, honest, and interesting. How did your grandmother get the name Bangoon?
