Thanks, Annette! I remember being in tears when visiting the Shanksville memorial. It is truly a moving memorial to self-sacrifice. We need to hear about the everyday heroes in our midst!
Thanks, Annette, for this witness. It's an important reminder. I remember well that infamous day when I was preparing to enter college. It broke my heart as it told me how hard it was for us as a generation to be listened to for our opposition to the war. My years in college were focused on that opposition more than getting an education, I fear. But that event did spur the huge Peace movement that followed. We hope that it made a difference.
Annette, what an incredibly moving post. I grew up in Ohio, remember Kent State’s horrific shootings, and discussed it during a summer school government class. Still, it didn’t hit me as hard as it has these many years later as we’ve seen increasing waves of attack upon students, citizens, and those born in other countries. And your visit to the PA crash site and the reminder of the wave of unity that came upon Americans for the month that followed - thank you so much for bringing the memory back to me. Would we react the same today? Such a good question. 🙏
Wow! Kent State had to impact you deeply. And, yes, the parallels to today are terrifying. It’s scares me to even imagine what might happen if we experience a similar event. I’m glad there are people like you who remember. That’s so important.
What a wonderful story-filled reflection! I felt like I was alongside you "on the road." Thanks for sharing this with all of us...AND Yes, I agree we need "to always remember."
Thanks Annette for sharing such an amazing journey. I could feel the emotion shared by your observations. Peace
Thanks, Larry. It was a powerful day!
Thanks in particular for the reflection and photos of Flight 93 memorial, Anette. It's still tough for me too, 24 years later.
Thank you, Troy. The 25th next year will be especially hard, especially given this administration.

Yes, I agree, Sharon. The memorial is such a powerful reminder.

We needed people like you who took opposition to the war seriously. I was a little younger but I cheered you on! Thank you! It made a big difference!

Thank you! You were beside me! I carry those I love with me everywhere—even to places that make me cry!
