Thank you, Annette for this thoughtful and heartfelt essay and also the two essays you cite here. It helps to read what others are going through. I want to build bridges to those I disagree with as I too live in a blue bubble. It's very hard right now as I want to scream at them, "can't you see what you've done" to marginalized people, to the environment to economic inequality...I will continue to read and write and meditate and be with my community...your words help with my healing. Roxanne
Thank you, Roxanne, I'm glad this piece helps. It's a journey for us all to burst our bubbles and that certainly doesn't mean to give us the sanctuary our communities hold. It's finding a way to hold both that's important. Many blessings on you as you travel this road. Thanks for all your support.
I’m eager to read your book Annette! Lovely to “meet” you today at Troy’s wrap party. Congratulations on your own launch and thank you for the necessary reminder of popping our bubbles so we can see clearly the country we live in and the human family that inhabits it.
Thank you, Kimberly. It was great to meet you today, too. Now I just have to practice what I preach! Not easy to do, but I’m working on it. Did I understand that you have a memoir in process?
Indeed. Thanks for asking! I happily shared my memoir Unfixed every Sunday over a period of 56 weeks and am now submitting it to a few agents to see if anyone bites, though I’m not holding my breath.:) I just helped a friend self-publish after submitting to publishers and recognizing the challenge of a new author “breaking into” the mainstream. He’s having quite a good run through self-publishing so that’s encouraging! My memoir is on my home page and each chapter links to the next for easy binging. It seems we share a theme of family secrets, so I’m eager to dive into yours and learn how you learned to navigate it all. 💛
I just found it. I’m looking forward to reading it. Good luck with going the agent route. I don’t have the patience and I wanted more control. But I’m also not expecting to retire on my earnings! LOL!
Thanks Annette! And I just bought your book for my Kindle. Once I finish my current evening read, The Measure, I'll be diving into yours next! I understand the patience bit. I'm not sure how long I'll wait, but I thought no harm in trying. :) Hope you're having a lovely, quiet Sunday.
Thanks so much, Kimberly. I hope you enjoy it. And yes, I understand about trying. This book took my more than ten years to write so I feel like I waited long enough already! If I were younger and had more patience, I’d try that way first. Good luck. And enjoy your Sunday too.
Thank you so much! I don’t think I’ve ever been that nervous before hitting ‘publish’. Not helped by all the raw emotions and anger… I really appreciate your kind words.

Thank you, Annette! I needed to read this today as I wonder how to continue on.
We all have the same questions, so wondering in community is the only option I see. Glad it was helpful. Hang in there, friend!

I completely understand, but that’s how you know you’ve written from the heart.
Thank you for the kind mention Annette!
You're welcome, Dan. Thank you for your work.
