I remember that church wedding and reception so vividly. And all the work you poured into events at GA when we got the word as well. You have always been such a leader and mentor for me, and I hope the universe (and the Court) doesn't turn its back on any of us. (I also love that one of your nicknames is Netty!) Love you and Wendy so very much!
Your presence there, Denise, was essential to making it such a special day. Thank you for all your support and love. It makes all the difference. Love you back!
What a wonderful story, Annette. Congratulations!!! Of course we're on pins and needles about what the Supreme Court justices will decide to do, but for today, just today, we're married and we're safe. North Carolina is not on your list, so today I'll send some money to HRC. Txs for your account of a joyful day 9n Virginia, and I join Ned in wishing you, and all of us, persistent joy.
I cherish my memories of that special day - and the lunchtime call from you at school the day before. Thanks for lifting this story up today. You tell it beautifully.
Magical memories! My heart knows the apprehension felt by so very many with this administration's nefarious intentions. I loved the video!, but..... where's the kiss? In the excerpt you stated, (paraphrased!) "this time when we kissed, .... something about sunlight, etc" but no kiss! geesh! LOL! You are a gifted writer, Netty, and improving with each new sharing. Thank you much! Blessed be!
So happy to know both of you! I wish I had more opportunities to relate, to get to know you better, but it's usually through poetry, which is limited. And life is. . .well, life. Thank you for your kind example of love and courage. It may be quiet in some ways, but your voices are strong and resonent for all to hear. Blessings. . .
Thanks for sharing your story of (FINALLY) getting the legal recognition you and Wendy deserved for so long. My wife and I married in the autumn of 2008 —a beautiful, sunlight morning —in a quaint Unitarian country church. It was just two months before Obama’s election (yay) and the passage of a law prohibiting further same sex marriages in California (boo). I’ll never forget the joy in our hearts on 6/26/2015, the day Obergefell v. Hodges was decided by the Supreme Court. Like you, I’m concerned but not actually pacing the floor yet over the possibility the Supremes may overturn it. Great piece, Annette.
Yes, the bullies lost one today!!
That’s the truth!
So beautiful. And important. Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks, Judith, so much!

Thanks, Roxanne. Seeing and hearing Jeanne again brought tears to my eyes. I’m so glad she was a part of it all. I miss her terribly!

Only you would notice that! In reality, it happened right before the pronouncement. Wendy got ahead of herself! LOL!
