Thank you, Annette, for this sensitive tribute to your mother. Your project of writing about 65 women who have influenced your life is inspiring me to reflect on my own mentors and "she-ros."
Thank you, Ginnie. That’s exactly what I’m hoping this project will do. It has been so gratifying to me to write--much more difficult emotionally than I expected it to be--but so worth it. I hope it inspires you to reflect on your sheroes!
Of course you can probably guess that I hung on every word, uncovering bits and pieces of our shared history, some of which I didn’t know. The photo of Aunt Helen is stunning and the best of her that I’ve seen. Thank you so much for sharing this intimate part of your life and I look forward to the next entry!
Thank you, Sherry! Isn’t it a great photo? I know you’ll especially love a couple of the posts of shared relatives and hopefully, find the others interesting as well. Thanks for your encouragement.
Love this piece Annette. Wow, your Mom really did get hammered by life and death, early on. I look forward to seeing how the stories continue to unfold.
I just put together that it was her 50th birthday. Thank goodness for Kodak photo dating! It’s by far the best photo she ever took. I’m glad to have it. She was a force in her own quiet way!

Thank you, Maj-Brit. That means a lot. And yes, Mom went through some tough times, that’s for sure!
What a stunning photo of her at 50. She looks like a force of nature.
