Richmond, Virginia, where I live, is renowned for its holiday tacky light holiday displays. To qualify to be a designated tacky light house, you must have at least 40,000 lights—yes that’s a 4 with four zeroes. It’s outrageous and joyous at the same time. Wendy and I love driving around to see the ostentatious displays. They bring joy at a time when joy is not in great supply and that gives me hope on this joint Christmas/Hanukkah Day.
